Aval payasam is a quick and easy to make dessert/pudding. It’s made using Aval aka poha which is said to be the favourite of Lord Krishna. This recipe is really simple and easy. Instead of milk and sugar in this recipe, you can use condensed milk also. If you prefer jaggery to sugar, you can use jaggery also in this recipe.

Ingredients
- 1 cup Aval/White rice flakes
- One litre Milk, boiled
- 1 cup Sugar (You can add according to your taste)
- 3 nos. Cardamom, powdered
- 6 nos. Almonds
- 6 nos. Cashew nuts
- 3 tbsps. Ghee
Method
- Heat a thick bottomed vessel and add 1 tablespoon of ghee.
- Fry chopped cashew nuts and almonds in it.
- When its golden brown in colour, remove them to a saucer.
- Add rest of the ghee to the vessel and let it melt.
- Add rice flakes and fry until its crispy.
- To this, add boiled milk and heat until the rice flakes are cooked and the kheer is thick. Stir continuously.
- Next add sugar and cook in a low flame. Stir continuously.
- Add powdered cardamom and the fried cashew nuts and almond pieces.
- Switch off. Serve hot or cold.
