  • 1 cup Grated Coconut
  • 2 nos. Shallots

  • ¼ tsp. Mustard seeds
  • 1 cup Yogurt /Curd, beaten
  • 2 tbsp. Oil or as needed for frying okra

  • Wash and pat dry the vendakka/okra. Cut off the ends from the okra/vendakka and slice into uniformly round slices.
  • Heat oil in a pan, add chopped okra, chopped green chillies and fry on medium-high till the okra turns slightly brown at the edges. Toss it about periodically, so that it does not burn. • Grind coconut, cumin seeds and shallots in a mixer.
  • In a small frying pan; add oil and temper with mustard seeds, dry red chillies, curry leaves.
  • Add the ground mix to this and allow to cook.
  • Allow the cooked mix to cool down.
  • After it cools down, add yogurt/curd and mix well. Adjust the salt.
  • Add it to the cooked okra.
  • Cover and set aside for at least 10 minutes to allow the flavours to blend and serve immediately with hot steamed rice.
