Onion peanut chutney is a quick and easy to make breakfast accompaniment. It is commonly served in South Indian vegetarian restaurants and is mostly an accompaniment with dosas, idlis, upmas etc. As I love peanuts and dishes made with peanuts, I decided to try it on my own. The nutty taste of onion peanut chutney makes it yummy and a perfect combination with most snacks or breakfast items.

Ingredients
- 1 Onion
- ½ cup Peanuts
- 4 Red Chillies
- Tamarind, gooseberry size
- 2 tsps. Oil
- ¼ tsp. Mustard
- 2 pinches Asfoetida Powder
- Curry Leaves, a sprig
- Salt, as per taste
Method
- First dry roast the peanuts.
- Cut the onion into big pieces. Add in a teaspoon of oil in a pan and fry the onion and red chillies.
- Put fried onion, fried peanuts, red chillies, tamarind and salt in a mixie jar and grind it to a coarse paste.
- If you find the paste less spicy, you can add more chillies to adjust your spice.
- Next season it with mustard, asafoetida and curry leaves.
- Yummy chutney is ready to serve.
