Kappa and Meen curry is one of the authentic Kerala dishes devoured by all non-vegetarians. Though nowadays you could come across kappa being served along with beef or chicken, kappa with fish curry is the most delicious and the most commonly served combination. Tapioca has been a staple food for many people in Kerala since earlier times, as it is cheap and is available all year round. Fresh and good tapioca are easy and quicker to cook while the spoilt ones are difficult to cook and taste awful.

This is a perfect recipe for casual dinner with friends or I would say a lazy Friday night dinner. It is a very easy and quick recipe, low in fat and full of flavour. Make sure to use very lean ground beef so that you don’t feel guilty afterwards.
Even my husband loves making this because of its ease. An absolute favourite with my boys…..
Matar Paneer or Paneer peas curry is a vegetarian dish made with cottage cheese and green peas simmered in onion tomato gravy. This dish goes well with parathas, rotis or rice. This recipe uses plain paneer to reduce the calories of the dish. If you are not calorie conscious you can shallow fry the paneer cubes to enhance the taste. To make a thick and creamy gravy, you can add cashew nut paste or even cream. There are many variations to this recipe….here I am sharing a simple and delicious one.
Malai Kofta is a North Indian vegetarian dish. Malai refers to the cream and koftas are deep fried paneer and vegetable dumplings in rich and creamy onion tomato gravy. You can make koftas with or without paneer, potato and paneer only, even cabbage and panner. Any combination works well as long as the water is fully squeezed of the dumplings before frying. This dish goes well with chappathis, naan, jeera rice, all pulaos and parathas. It is a rich dish perfect for parties and special occasions.
Kadala, otherwise called chickpeas, is an excellent source of both soluble and insoluble dietary fibre. They are rich in protein and loaded with minerals. They are heart healthy as they can lower LDL and total cholesterol. You can add cooked chickpeas to any salads as they add to the taste and can keep you fuller longer.
Kadala curry can be served as a perfect combination for puttu, idiyappams or appams for breakfast. For lunch or dinner you can serve it with rice, chappathis or pooris.
