Sure I do agree, refined white sugars can spark an energy crash, and ice cream might be as addictive as crack. But the sweet stuff has some virtues—for your heart, diet goals, and even libido. Still the sweets food group contains mostly foods that you should limit in your diet.
Sweets include fatty desserts like cakes, brownies, cookies, ice cream and other high-fat, high-sugar treats. The group also includes pies, puddings, cupcakes, doughnuts, muffins, sweet breads, candies, sugary spreads and syrups. In addition to all the above, I have included Indian sweets to this page.

Sheera has been my all-time favourite. I have always tasted sheera at temples. I remember my days in Oman when the Prasad served at the temples to the devotees was always sheera. At times I wanted to queue up again to taste the delicious sheera. That is when I decided to try to make it at home. Initial attempts were failures without getting the right consistency. Now I have mastered it and these days I serve sheera at temples to devotees. The name of this dish varies from region to region. In western part of India, it is known as sheera. It is called halwa in Northern part of India, while the name rava kesari is from South India.

Barley laddoo is a delicious and healthy treat which can be served as a sweet or dessert. As you may know, barley is well known for its health benefits, so why not use it to make sweets so that children will enjoy it. I have used pearl barley in this recipe. Barley can be found in regular Grocery Stores. Pearl Barley is nothing but regular Barley where the hull and bran is removed by processing. This makes these grains cook faster and make them less chewy than the regular barley grains.
